I am a graduate from the Naval Academy “N. Vaptsarov” in Varna, with a Master’s degree in Navigation (my secondary education was in the High School of Mathematics “Dr. P. Beron” also in Varna). I have worked on board merchant ships as a Deck officer, as per my academic degree, for about 10 years, until 2018, when I decided to settle down ashore. I have since been working in the realm of shipping still, at the various ports of Varna. However such a job is mostly scheduled in shifts, allowing for plenty of spare time. And that is why I have decided to opt for an additional occupation in the field of “Freelancing”, whereas I mostly seek after the domains of “Copywriting” in Bulgarian and English language, with or without SEO, as well as performing translations between the two of these languages. I would say that I am well familiar with the basics of the optimization of texts, so as to be highly ranked by “search engines” online, by the means of upgrading texts on basis of detailed semantic analysis, “ranking” and “unique content” checking, without compromising the quality and meaningful presentation that are expected by a reader. One of the main advantages, I rely on, is my proficiency in English language. I’d say I have a very good written and spoken level, due to the aforementioned yearly-long experience in an international team, where English was the official working language. Further to this, I am a holder of CAE (Cambridge English Advanced) certificate, level C1, as evidence of my proficiency in the language. Albeit, my profession and career appear too far away from the “Freelancing” domains, mentioned above, I have to clarify, that my duties as a Deck Officer, involved a large amount of tasks, related to management of documents, correspondence, and other of the kind, which are typical for almost any office job. That required handling documents in almost all of the various “Microsoft Office” platforms, so as to be capable of coping with any of those with no difficulty, as well as the use of an array of company software and overall computer work, encompassing a significant portion of my duties, all in all providing for my very good computer skills if I may say. It shouldn’t be underestimated that the work intensity on board is rather high, demanding discipline, organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks with almost zero compromise in adhering to deadlines. Another point to add is the formal email correspondence, which was a routine part of the job, and once again I would remind that all of the above, has been carried out in English. My work in an international team with overall communication in English, required around half of any given year, spent with these people, living and working together. So for these 10 years, apart from achieving the fluent use of the language, I have acquired linguistic skills, far more extended, than such achieved by just studying a language. That means knowledge expanding from the simple day to day domestic situations, through work related traveling communication, the official email correspondence, to the very basics of my main job, as mentioned of technical essence. Whereas the later, allowed for the gaining of competency in a wide scale of technical terms, both in Bulgarian and English language, which is quite useful in opportunities for translation of texts with particular technical focus. The studies for the CAE (Cambridge English Advanced) level C1 examination, deepened my linguistic skills into a rare and very narrow spectrum, specific for “native” speakers, as well as a variety of idiomatic expressions, which provide for a quite diverse presentation of certain content. I could say that my Bulgarian linguistic skills are rather versatile too, and I have developed the ability to express myself well in both languages, precisely, meaningfully and comprehensibly, using my own words and style, regardless of whether I am creating my own content, or recreating a sample article. The construction of my very own and individual, pertaining to my own character, thoughts in my mother tongue, at the end of the day is as well important, in the context of translating from English, and is another tool of my own that I rely on rather strongly. All of the above stated is the bases that supports me in regards to “Copywriting”, SEO and translation of texts, utilizing my preparedness both in Bulgarian and English language.
